Unveilr AI Secures AJVC Pre-Seed for Answer Engine Optimization

Mumbai-based Unveilr AI has raised pre-seed funding from Aviral Bhatnagar's AJVC at a valuation of Rs 16.7 crore. The startup, founded by Sanditya Srivastava and launched in February 2026, helps B2B and consumer brands generate qualified leads through traditional search engines and AI platforms including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude.

The round puts a spotlight on a fast-rising discipline in digital marketing: Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO - the practice of getting a brand named inside the answers that AI assistants give to buyers. "A buyer today asks ChatGPT which lawyer, clinic or software to choose and gets two or three names back," Srivastava said. "If a brand isn't one of them, it has lost that lead before its website ever loads."

What Unveilr AI Does: SEO Meets Answer Engine Optimization

Unveilr AI combines search engine optimization (SEO) and AEO into a single search strategy. Its proprietary AI agents track how a brand appears across AI engines, identify the buyer questions where competitors are being recommended instead, and map the sources those engines rely on. A team of IIT alumni and SEO and AEO specialists then builds the content, technical improvements and online authority a brand needs to be included in those answers.

The company works with both B2B and consumer brands, and says customers typically begin to see results within the first month. It is an approach that treats the AI answer itself as the new front page - the place where a buying decision now starts for a growing share of customers.

Why AI Answers Are Rewriting Brand Discovery

The shift is easy to underestimate. Buyers are increasingly using AI platforms and Google's AI Overviews to get recommendations, and an AI answer may name only two or three brands. There is no second page of results to rank on, and no ad slot to buy inside the reply. A brand is either part of the answer or invisible at the moment of decision.

Srivastava argues that this is why organic visibility compounds while paid campaigns do not. "Referrals and paid campaigns bring in customers, but they don't compound. Organic visibility does: every piece of content and every citation keeps generating leads long after it goes live. That's why we measure our work by the leads our customers receive, not just by rankings."

He expects the change to accelerate as AI agents start buying on behalf of consumers. "In a few years, search will shift almost entirely to AI. People won't scroll through results. They'll ask an AI, and increasingly AI agents will research, compare and buy on their behalf. When an agent is making the purchase, a brand is either one of the options it trusts or it isn't considered at all."

The pattern cuts both ways: customers are asking longer, more specific questions and expecting a single recommendation rather than a list of links. That reverses decades of search thinking. Ten blue links rewarded whoever optimised best for keywords; an AI answer rewards whoever the model trusts as a source. Trust, in turn, builds from consistent facts, third-party mentions and content that is easy to quote - all things even a small brand can work on deliberately.

The Early Numbers Behind the Bet

According to the company, the results so far are measurable for brands that treat AI answers as a channel:

  • For an Indian B2B legal-services platform, Unveilr AI increased AI-sourced traffic by about 4.7 times and leads by 5 times, alongside an approximately 80% increase in ChatGPT citations.
  • For one D2C brand, organic search now accounts for about 27% of total revenue, with most of the remainder coming from performance marketing.
  • Across clients, the company says improvements in AI visibility typically begin to show within the first month.

These figures are company-reported and early - the AEO industry is young, and independent benchmarks are still rare. But the direction of travel is clear: discovery is moving from ranked links to generated answers, and businesses that show up as sources for those answers are already booking the demand.

What This Means for Indian Businesses

For small and mid-sized businesses, AEO builds on SEO rather than replacing it. The basics still matter, but the goal has moved from ranking a page to being quotable. A practical checklist for owners getting started:

  • Test your visibility: ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers would ask - "best [your category] in [your city]" - and note which competitors get named.
  • Make your content citation-friendly: clear FAQs, honest comparisons, accurate business information and structured pages that an AI system can lift facts from.
  • Strengthen the sources AI systems read: reviews, listings, directories, local press and community mentions all feed the engines' picture of your brand.
  • Keep the foundations tight: a verified Google Business Profile, consistent name-address-phone details across platforms and a fast website.
  • Measure it: track referral traffic from AI platforms in your analytics as a stand-alone source, the way you once tracked search and social.

Early movers get compounding advantage. If an AI engine consistently names your business in its answers today, that citation becomes part of the evidence future models weigh - which is exactly what a rankings position used to be for Google.

For most small businesses, the starting point costs nothing: spend an hour this week asking AI assistants the questions your customers ask, and note what comes back. The gaps you spot - missing listings, thin product pages, no recent reviews - are the same gaps that keep a brand out of the answer. Fixing them is ordinary marketing work. The difference is that the reward is a recommendation, not a ranking.

The Road Ahead: India, the UAE and the US

Unveilr AI will use the fresh capital to expand its engineering capacity and grow what its AI agents can do, and to build a sales organisation that reaches more businesses across India, the UAE and the United States. AJVC's founder, Aviral Bhatnagar, framed the investment simply: "AI has become the new way to search. Unveilr's proprietary methods are starting to show immediate traction and visibility."

The company's bet is that businesses investing in AI visibility now will hold the same advantage that early SEO adopters held in the 2000s - except this time the window is shorter, because the engines that decide the answers are moving faster than Google's index ever did.

For Indian small businesses, the lesson from this small round is bigger than the cheque. The storefront that matters next is not a website or a marketplace listing alone - it is the sentence an AI assistant says when a customer asks for the best option nearby.
